Two-Headed Calf is a Glasgow duo, writing about nature, life and love. They named their band after the Laura Gilpin poem “The Two-Headed Calf”, about the short, magical life of a mutated baby cow, fascinated by the space between hope and doom. With sharp, thoughtful lyricism and carefully-layered instrumentals, their music is perfect for fans of early Joni Mitchell, Noah Kahan, Novo Amor and Taylor Swift’s ‘folklore’. The girls released their first single Wasteland in 2024, a 7-minute coming of age ballad about the grief and confusion of a woman’s early 20s in the big city. Beginning as a soft and silvery whisper of a song, and finishing with a shatteringly cinematic guitar solo, Wasteland represents the full scope of the band’s influences, from pop and indie-folk, to shoegaze and midwest-emo. Their first EP "Seek" is a loving acknowledgement of where they are at in life; asking questions, and seeking answers.
